About David Horler

David studied at Cirencester Royal Agricultural College and quickly realised when taking up the reins of the family farm in the 1980s that prices for beef, lamb and cereals were dropping to unprofitable levels and he would need to think innovatively about the business and its income streams. He met up with childhood friend, Alexandra Heard, as they had both been struck on how much their respective children enjoyed watching real life farm machines at work and there was nothing available on television for young children to enjoy.
They produced a pilot video, Tractor Ted Bread Making and 300 copies were sold in the first month! Tractor Ted was born!
The business is based on David’s 500 acre organic family farm in Somerset ensuring the very roots of the brand are synonymous with real life farming. David has taken on a farm manager in recent years as more time is spent on Tractor Ted. He still splits his time between the two and has even been known to purchase cows on the way back from a meeting!

The UK’s favourite little green tractor, Tractor Ted, engages, entertains and educates young children on farming and the countryside through the series of Tractor Ted DVD and Books.
David Horler, who co-originated the Tractor Ted concept, will discuss how Tractor Ted brings real life farming to life for young children. Tractor Ted has 4 Tractor Ted Little Farm attractions across the UK and ROI pulling in over half-a-million visitors a year. The team also runs over 100 Live Events each year taking the Tractor Ted experience to millions of young Tractor Ted fans across the country from Scotland to Southampton!
With education, entertainment and engagement being core to all areas of the business, David will give share ideas on how venues can get involved with Tractor Ted to bring real life farming and the countryside to life.
